Before
you begin:
Information that you may need from us:
If you use our World Contact E-Store or our E-Marketing Manager
(or any other advanced functions that use a database on your
web site) you may need the database name and datasource
name; ask us, and we will supply that information. If you
do not have this info, don't worry. It can easily be amended
later, so don't let it hold up your account setup and activation
at Media3.net.
Media3
account setup directions:
The following is an example using World Contact info as
an example.
1) Go
to: http://www.Media3.net/
(click here to open this in a new browser window).
2) Click on the "Order" tab at the top of the page.
3) In the right column, click on "Order a Hosting Account,
Parked Domain or Sub-domain." (For the purposes of this
activity, you will be selecting a hosting account).
4) Enter your Domain name (the information
in the image below is just an example using our domain name),
select the middle button "This domain will be transferred
to Media3" (i.e.: the domain name DNS #s will changed
with the domain registrar - usually Network Solutions - to
"point" to Media3. Generally, World Contact will
have already setup your domain name to point here, or we will
make the change for you), enter your e-mail address
(they will e-mail your setup info and invoice to this address),
select sales rep: "Neil".

5) Select account type: "NT Business Account". Note:
ignore the prices and setup fee, World Contact clients have
pre-negotiated pricing of $25/month with all the goodies.

6) Ignore the "parked domain" question unless you
have more than one domain name and have already discussed
this with us.
7) Continue to step 2.
8) Media3's step #2 will lookup your domain to verify that
you own it. Surprise, you do, so ignore this entire page and
click "continue to step 2" at the page bottom (either
you or World Contact we will "re-point" your domain
to Media3 with the domain registrar).
9) Step #3 asks for your contact information (see image below).
This is the contact information for the owner of the domain
name, and the web hosting bills will be directed to this contact.
Fill out and continue to the next step.

10) Step #4. Enter your account options: select the middle
button "I Will Register/Modify the Domain Name Myself",
select 3 months (they bill by the quarter via e-mail), FTP
user name and password can be anything you wish (this is the
user name and password to access the web site files; if you
use mixed case or capital letters write them down carefully!
You will need to e-mail these 2 codes to us so that we can
access your site and work with you on your web site project.)
The "Authorized Webmaster" should be:
Thomas Williams, World Contact, LLC
And the "Webmaster E-mail Address" is:
twilliams@worldcontact.com
(This information helps Media3 identify World Contact as your
technical contact, etc. if needed).
Enter Comments: enter the following text into the text
box (you can cut and paste the text below). NOTE:
the exact text in the screen shot image in the example below
may differ, so just copy the text between the dotted lines,
and then edit the pasted text to replace the bold information
with your unique database setting information (call us if
you don't know it, but don't panic because your site may not
use any databases, and thus may not have any database settings.
This information can always be updated later, and you won't
break anything by omitting these 2 lines completely).
---------------copy
and paste the text below this line-------------------------------------
per Neil:
-account fee= $25 / month
-waive setup fees
-ODBC:
DB name= databasename.mdb
DSource= DSN
-Include "default.cfm" in list of default documents
-Include webtrends, no fee
-Please CC all setup e-mail to webmaster (twilliams@worldcontact.com)
---------------end
of text to copy above this line-------------------------------------------
Example of the text in bold to be edited once pasted into
the Media3 order form to conform to your site settings:
Text as copied before edited to your settings:
dB name=
databasename.mdb
DSource= DSN
Example of text edited to your settings (if you are a company
called "Acme"):
dB name= acme.mdb
DSource= acme
(Where dB name = "your database
name".mdb, and DSource = "your data source name")
Ask us for this information before setup, but leaving it blank
will NOT break anything, so don't worry.
(Example screen shot image below).
Account
Type selection: select "no preference."
Go to
the next step
11) Media3's
step #5 confirms the information (again, don't worry about
the invoice total, it will be adjusted once the order
is actually processed, and the auto-generated e-mail confirming
your order will also be "wrong" until adjusted by
the accounting department).
Enter your payment information in the lower half of the page.
You may choose to pay by check if you wish, and you may always
change your mind later and opt to pay the e-mailed invoice
with a credit card (which is how most of us pay since it eliminates
the mechanics of paying the invoices).
Click on "submit order".
Ignore
the last page that may say something about a domain transfer
form (either we will handle that for you, or you will do it).
Notify
us via e-mail: office@worldcontact.com
You are done, and now have a hosting account established at
Media3.net. Please notify us via e-mail
(twilliams@worldcontact.com)
that you have completed the domain setup, and include the
Domain Name, FTP user name, and password
so that we may access your new account (remember to type it
in the correct case if you used any CAP letters). Also please
e-mail us your " IP " number when Media3.Net sends
you your welcome e-mail (see below).
What
to expect from Media3.Net
First,
you may receive an automatically generated e-mail invoice...
the amount due and setup fees will be incorrect. You are getting
a discount, which will be re-calculated manually, and the
e-mail invoice will be resent to you. So don't get frustrated
when you get the first email and the numbers appear wrong.
Second, within 1-3 business days Media3.Net will complete
your account setup and e-mail you a welcome confirmation
with important and useful information regarding your site.
It will also contain your IP number which will look
something like this: 63.153.44.02
Please e-mail this number to us also. You will also receive
a corrected e-mail invoice for your account. A standard
NT account is $75 / quarter ($25 / month). There should not
be any setup fees in your invoice.
Also, once your account is active, and any web site pages
have been moved over to Media3 from any previous host company,
please notify the previous host company that your account(s)
should be terminated, and all files deleted.
E-mail
Setup
Once your
account is setup and active, you can access the I-mail
system to setup your e-mail accounts.
If your
domain name is not yet pointing to media3, then you will need
your IP address (that's the "actual" numerical address
of your web site account at medi3, found in your account setup
confirmation e-mail from Media3 in the section that reads:
"please access your new account using http://63.78.115.12
- - your number will obviously differ).
Enter
your domain name without the WWW prefix (or your IP
# if your domain name is not yet pointed to Media3) in your
browser URL followed by ":801" (colon 801)
Example:
http://IP########.com:801
-OR-
http://.yourwebsitename.com:801
Enter
your site user name and password to access the administrative
interface. Help is available from those screens. The welcome
e-mail from Media3 also contains helpful information regarding
your e-mail capabilities and functions.
NOTE:
This flexible POP / Web based e-mail system allows one to
access their e-mail accounts through the standard POP e-mail
systems (Netscape / Eudora / MS Outlook / Goldmine, etc.)
OR directly through this web site interface from any
Internet connected computer in the world! (very handy
while traveling, or collecting mail from other offices, or
homes).
